In the atmospheric Bankside Vaults under London's Blackfriars Bridge, the People and Environment Achievement Awards took place on 21 March.

As charity partner Friends of the Earth benefitted from the eco-fuelled fun.

With a vintage theme, people dressed up for an evening - finally, an opportunity to wear my 1920s-style flapper dress. Food was prepared by Arthur Potts Dawson, drinks provided by ethical suppliers such as Juniper Green Organic Gin and Luscombe, and the crowd honoured individuals who have demonstrated the importance of sustainability.

Simon Nash from Green Oil was shortlisted for the Best Earth Saving Idea award. You can find Green Oil products in the Friends of the Earth shop and on our Big Green Bike Ride.

All entertainment on the evening linked in to the theme of creating your own energy. After the awards, the crowd sang and danced through the night to the Rockeoke band and generated energy on the kinetic dance floor. Who'd have thought that dancing could help raise Friends of the Earth vital funds? Well, we generated so much energy that Good Energy donated a whopping £500 to Friends of the Earth.

Another highlight was the digital fun fair. A slightly easier challenge than taking part in our Big Green Bike Ride was the Pacman game - you steer and power the game by riding a reclaimed bike.

So it was a fun night, but importantly, it was an opportunity for us to catch up with some of our business contacts and make some new ones too.

The theme was vintage but this event was certainly all about the future. There are so many individuals making positive environmental change in many different ways, but when we get together to celebrate like this, it's clear we're all dancing to the same tune.
