Friends of the Earth's Conference  2012 is fast approaching. Here's why you won't want to miss coming to Imperial College, London on 14-16 September.

There's tons to get excited about at this year's Conference. We've got one of our best line-ups of inspirational speakers ever, including  fashion guru Vivienne Westwood, Green Party leader Caroline Lucas MP and lawyer Polly Higgins. Alongside them there's a fantastic series of workshops and debates, and even a visit to the Natural History Museum's bee keepers. And there's then the Earthmovers Awards, our way of recognising inspirational volunteers and campaigns by local groups all around the country.

So what am I most excited about? Two things. Firstly, I can't wait to hear Caroline Lucas - a passionate campaigner on the environment, social justice and human rights, and the first Green Member of Parliament. Secondly, the brand new Open Day on Saturday 15th. For the first time ever we're opening Conference to the public, which is a great opportunity for us to meet new people and welcome them to Friends of the Earth.

I'm buzzing with excitement about all these fantastic speakers and activities, but the most important ingredient at Conference is people. Our local group volunteers are vital to Friends of the Earth's success, and this year over 200 people are expected to attend the Open Day. Come too! We need your ideas to take our campaigns forward.

Make sure you've got your place booked by 30th August at www.foe.co.uk/conference - and don't forget to invite your friends and family to the Open Day. I think it's one you won't want to miss.
