Activists' trip to the Netherlands
13 June 2011

Last month, a few intrepid Friends of the Earth local group members made their way to the Netherlands.

Sharing our journey

Beatrice from Sheffield, Neil from Swansea and Hilary and Joe (plus baby Fred) from Birmingham all made their way to the Dutch resort of Wijk an See.

Their mission: to meet activists from Holland, Croatia and Spain and share ideas, experiences and inspiration.

This was the first ever local groups fringe event at Friends of the Europe's Annual General Meeting, hosted by our Dutch colleagues Milieudefensie.

We hope to keep up the contacts made through this event and keep learning from all the incredibly knowledgable and devoted people in the European network of Friends of the Earth.

Part of the big debate

Local groups also attended the first day of the Annual General Meeting itself. Together with campaign staff from around Europe, they helped to define the changes we need to safeguard the planet.

There's a report from Joe about the trip on Birmingham Friends of the Earth's blog, . See parts one, two and three for the full story.
