Apple's tin price tag
21 March 2013

In our latest push to grab Apple's attention, we had a surprise for its newest store on opening day.

Apple opened its new Leeds store today. And shoppers found mysterious labels on iPhones and iPads asking about their impact on the environment.

They grilled Apple - asking if the tin in its smartphones is trashing coral reefs and tropical forests in Indonesia. Friends of the Earth activists had attached the labels to the products.

Over 15,000 of you have asked Apple to say if the tin in its smartphones is from Indonesia's Bangka Island. But so far Apple have remained silent.

We'll be keeping the pressure on Apple at stores and head office until it comes clean about its supply chains and commits to better processes to protect people and the environment.

Friends of the Earth's Make It Better campaign is asking for new rules to ensure companies come clean about their supply chains.

Ask Apple to reveal where the tin in its smartphones comes from.
