Friends of the Earth gets behind Balcombe's fracking fight8 August 2013
Balcombe residents buoyed by massive support - as they battle to stop Cuadrilla drilling under their homes.
Yesterday Friends of the Earth took over 3,500 messages of support to those fighting fracking in Balcombe.
We received the glut of messages within just 24 hours of emailing our supporters to ask their opinions on fracking.
Shaken and stirred
Hydraulic fracturing - fracking for short - is a process of releasing oil or gas from shale rock deep under the ground.
The Government's come out in full support for this dirty energy, ignoring climate change and failing to consult the public. There's also evidence from other countries that fracking can affect air and water quality and potentially human health.
Residents from Balcombe in West Sussex have been protesting for years. A poll by the parish council reveals that 82% of the village is opposed to the test drilling by Cuadrilla.
It's fantastic to see these messages and we appreciate the great comments from around the country. It inspires us to continue our fight.

Break the silence
Friends of the Earth has written to both The Environment Agency and West Sussex Council to raise serious concerns about the lack of information on environmental impacts from the test drilling.
Help stop fracking in its tracks
Whoever you are - it doesn't matter where you live - we need to say no to fracking in West Sussex and everywhere.
So please send our email to West Sussex Council to stop fracking in its tracks.
