Banquet is an extraordinary success

Dame Vivienne Westwood, Katharine Hamnett and Mike Figgis were among the 200 guests who attended Friends of the Earth's Extraordinary Banquet event on Thursday 14 March, 2013.

The event, held at London's exclusive One Mayfair, proved to be a spectacular success; with a magical menu, an array of dazzling performances and a range of incredible auction prizes.

The glittering evening began with mouth-watering cocktails by masters of mixology, Twist. Guests then went on to dine on a multi-sensory, experimental menu created by Zafferano, including edible sand, pistachio trees, and strawberry and cream mushrooms with tropical tea vapour.

The evening included a unique UK performance from Grammy-nominated classical musician Julian Wachner, and a special live set from critically acclaimed soul and blues singer Natalie Duncan.

Guests bid on a variety of fabulous auction prizes including VIP tickets to an upcoming Sir Paul McCartney concert; a private rowing experience with Olympic Gold Medallist Alex Gregory and a chartered yacht for 10 people for a day.
