Supporter of the week: Kendra Ullyart
To celebrate Friends of the Earth's 40th anniversary, I've been talking to some of the supporters who've made it all possible. Kendra Ullyart (right) uses theatre to get our message across.
"Before I had triplet girls, I was a theatre designer.
"I designed over 100 productions, including those for the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre and numerous theatres in the States, and had a reputation for flamboyant and colourful sets.
"For an RSC production of The Beggar's Opera I designed a crooked, precarious wooden set that looked as if it could collapse at any moment.
"Another time I designed a one-woman play called Dickens' Women performed by Miriam Margolyes on a set of giant, beautifully-bound books.
Now, I coordinate an award-winning Friends of the Earth group - including an allotment in Darlington - and organise campaigns.
"At the moment, we're working on a campaign called 20's Plenty, trying to get the speed limit in residential areas of Darlington down to 20mph."
