Kyoto is still alive. But the price of success has been high. The Protocol has been heavily diluted. It's effect on climate change has been massively eroded.

Is it any good?

Countries like Japan, Australia and Canada have succeeded in their attempts to water it down - and reduced the amount of real action industrialised nations will have to take.

Friends of the Earth will be demanding that the Kyoto Protocol comes into force as soon as possible. We will be ensuring that governments treat the Protocol as only the first step towards tackling man-made climate change.

There is still much more to be done to halt dangerous climate change.
