I'm dreaming...
1 December 2002

Friends of the Earth campaigners staged a demonstration at Cadbury headquarters in Bourneville on Thursday 5th December.

Campaigners successfully handed in a petition to Cadbury with over 3,000 signatures from young people calling for pesticide-free chocolate, following the discovery of Lindane in Cadbury's white chocolate Dream bar.

Three ten year olds from Generation Earth, the youth club of Birmingham Friends of the Earth, sang their own version of Jingle Bells entitled 'Jingle Hell' and read a poem before handing over the petition and giant pesticide-free chocolate bar to the Cadbury's representative.

One of the girls said "it was the best day of her life!"

Jingle Hell!!
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way
Oh! How nice it would be,
If our chocolate was OK! Hey!

People coming up in rashes,
People's eyes sting and itch
This happens to people who grow choccie
Were you aware of this?
Chorus

Munching through the chocolate
Crumb by crumb
We don't want to eat chemicals
That are no good for us!
Chorus

We don't want to FEEL FUNNY
We don't want to get ill
But if you don't change things,
Then WE MAYBE WILL!
