Coalition shows support for clean energy future
23 February 2012

In a letter to back bench MPs David Cameron has emphasised his support for renewable energy.

The Prime Minister has made clear that on-shore wind will play a role in Britain's energy future.

On-shore wind plays a role in a balanced UK electricity mix. I am also determined that we seize the economic opportunities in renewable energy.

David Cameron

Support for clean energy

This follows climate change minister Greg Barker's announcement that:

  • Britain will massively increase solar energy production by 2020.
  • There will be much more money to invest in our solar future.

New energy and climate change Secretary Ed Davey has also shown his commitment to clean British energy

We want to make sure we have our own energy production that is clean and green

Ed Davey

Benefits of green energy

They recognise the clear benefits of backing renewable energy:

  • If Britain produces its own energy we don't need to rely on imported energy.
  • We would save money by being less reliant on expensive fossil fuels.

Show your support

Although this commitment is welcome we still need your support with challenging the Big Six energy companies to give us clean energy we can all afford.
