Monday lunchtime: a stunt to support Africa
14 December 2009

Here's a short clip of what happened at lunchtime in the conference centre at the climate talks.

It's a demonstration by Friends of the Earth to show our support for African countries.

An hour earlier, a group of African countries held a press conference to denounce attempts by rich countries to kill of the Kyoto targets in Copenhagen.

The Kyoto Protocol puts a legal obligation on rich countries to cut their emissions first, as the culprits for climate change.

And they are trying to wriggle out of this commitment.

We had a successful march in London called the Wave. Then Saturday's fantastic turn-out in Copenhagen - the Flood.

But right through the climate talks we have been doing actions like today's.

It's one of the many way we help to influence opinions - and fight for a strong and fair agreement at Copenhagen.

At the end of the event, Daisaku Kadokawa walked up to our campaigner Asad Rehman and thanked him for the stunt.

Who is Daisaku Kadokawa?

The mayor of Kyoto.

A reminder of what Copenhagen is about.

Today's action - please email the Danish Prime Minister.
