A lot done...but more to do on Energy Bill
28 June 2011

The Energy Bill is almost law.

Thousands of us have lobbied our MPs and attended public meetings.

And we've made real progress on getting homes insulated and bringing the worst rented houses up to scratch.

But there's more to do.

Council action still missing

We've got Ministers talking about council action on emissions, declaring it 'vital' to meeting our Climate Change Act targets.

But while the Government is talking the talk, it's not walking the walk.

The Bill still doesn't include a commitment to council action on climate change.

We can't miss this opportunity to drive local action on carbon emissions.

Final push

The Bill must ensure all councils have a local climate change strategy that fits with expert advice from the Committee on Climate Change.

A final push is needed to make sure this new law really does drive the emissions cuts needed in our towns villages and cities.

Please call on Climate Minister Greg Barker to walk the walk on council action.
