Create an Energy Conversation this summer11 April 2011
Clean energy in the UK is under threat. Government plans threaten our potential to generate a greener, safer power supply.
Friends of the Earth is gearing up for a powerful new campaign in September to give us a renewable energy future instead - one that will:
- cut carbon
- generate jobs
- release us from the control of the big power companies and from our addiction to pricey fossil fuels.
Over the summer, starting in June, we need your help to tackle the urgent threat to community energy, and to build the evidence to support massive investment in wind, wave and tidal technology.
With your help we'll be ready to launch a major new campaign in September.
Very soon all local groups will receive a letter with details of how they can help to create the Big Energy Conversation. You'll need to let us know quickly whether you'd like to take part or not.
We'll be asking you to get local people, businesses and energy projects talking about choices and opportunities around energy in your community.
It's a once in a generation opportunity to change the way we generate energy and so we hope this Summer your group will jump on board and help us get ready to go.
