About The Food Chain Campaign

Vast swathes of forest have been cleared to grow soy

Producing soy to feed animals in factory farms is having a devastating effect on South American rainforests and other important habitats.

I saw something I'll never forget: an area of rainforest cleared to make way for a soy plantation - red, raw earth and razed trees stretched out for as far as the eye can see.

Clare Oxborrow, Senior Food Campaigner
on her recent trip to Paraguay

Clearing the forests:

  • Increases the climate-changing gases in the atmosphere
  • Destroys precious wildlife
  • Leaves communities without land.

We want Government to shift money away from the factory farms that hold the damaging chain together - and support thriving, planet-friendly farming.

Your gift to the Food Chain appeal will enable us to:

  • Influence key decision makers.
  • Research and promote innovative practical solutions.
  • Support communities in South America.
