Successful food campaigning training day10 April 2011
Local group members from all over England and Wales came along to our training and planning event in Birmingham.

The main areas of focus were: campaign training, information sharing about local campaigns and the latest news about the national food campaign work.
Identifying issues and causes
Using examples like the expansion of supermarkets and factory farming, local group members discussed the planning system and its connections with food.

Building on this knowledge, participants looked at creative ways of challenging planning proposals.
Promoting solutions
The discussions also emphasised the importance of promoting real solutions whilst campaigning against bad solutions.
There were interesting discussions about local food co-operatives, food events and ways of lobbying local councils.

Brilliant event. I loved the group sessions, doing things together and sharing ideas. We need lots of small things to add up to make a big change!

Building on the momentum
Groups used the opportunity to make new links with others, and they'll keep in touch via the Food Network.
