Friends of the Earth is offering a new training programme. We're looking for 20 passionate people who want to turn their enthusiasm into action to make change happen.
What's on offer
Over the next year you'll take part in two weekend-long training sessions. We'll also link you up with a Friends of the Earth group or campaign.
By the end of the programme you'll have acquired the core skills needed to organize campaigns. You'll also come away with a campaigning portfolio showing off your experience and ability.
Where and when
Weekend 1: 'From enthusiast to activist'
30 June - 1 July - Hackney City Farm, London
- Approaching people on the street
- Organising protests
- Delivering speeches
- Lobbying decision-makers
- Getting in the media.
Weekend 2: 'From activist to organiser'
October 2012 - Residential venue, Date and venue TBC
- Theories of change
- Campaign planning
- Building and maintaining groups
- Training and supporting others.
About you
You'll need to have some campaigning experience as well as a strong interest in environmental issues. You'll also enjoy learning in a participatory way with others.
How to apply
The course is free although you may be ased for a small contribution towards food and accommodation for the second weekend.
