Great Britons awarded 'CBE's in call for Clean British Energy
14 June 2012

Queen Victoria and football hero Sir Alf Ramsey are two of the many great British icons who we've awarded Clean British Energy 'CBE's.

In the early hours, Friends of the Earth hung oversized medals on dozens of statues in London and major English cities. These included:

  • pioneering industrialists
  • scientists
  • sporting legends and more.

Gold-standard green energy

The awards mark a new link-up between Friends of the Earth and gold-standard green energy companies Good Energy and Ecotricity. They use far more renewable energy than the Big Six.

Friends of the Earth is asking people to switch their electricity supply to one of these two suppliers to help boost clean British power.

The people who've received medals today played a part in making Britain great and David Cameron has a chance to do the same - his Energy Bill should switch us to clean British energy and put our country at the head of this new industrial revolution.

Wind, sun and water

Our recent poll shows 85% of people want the Government to force energy companies to stop relying on gas, and invest in renewable energy in Britain.

Renewable power includes energy from wind, sun and sea. Switching your energy supplies to Good Energy or Ecotricity will:

  • Cut climate changing emissions from your home or workplace.
  • Take power back from the Big Six energy companies.
  • Drive demand for renewable energy in Britain.
  • Help create jobs and cut energy costs in the long-term.

Back British energy

Please back the campaign and switch your electricity supplier to Good Energy or Ecotricity. Thank you.
