A class act in South London
19 October 2009

Greenwich and Lewisham Friends of the Earth teamed up with local schoolchildren recently to ask Minister for Climate Change Joan Ruddock to fix the food chain.

The children handed Ms Ruddock their own hand-made Food Chain postcards, and were delighted to hear that she shared their concerns.

Group member Ted Burke said

"It's brilliant that Joan Ruddock has admitted that soy production in the Amazon to feed our livestock is barmy and unsustainable.

This is a real win for our local campaign, and the children's contribution has been great. It's brilliant to see such enthusiasm from young children, and building this alliance has been good fun for the group.

This is what it's all about for me - doing something to make a real difference with inspirational people, and its got us really fired up for more campaigning".
