Happy Birthday to The Big Ask 1 May 2006
The Big Ask climate campaign has been running for only twelve months, and just in that short time has had phenomonal success.

Good news
Over 60,000 people have taken action by emailing or writing to their MP
That's one person every eight minutes.
Well over half of all MPs have shown their support for the Big Ask by signing a parliamentary petition (called an Early Day Motion).

That includes a majority in all the main parties - with over half of all the Labour and Conservative MPs and all of the Liberal Democrats.
Scores of public meetings have taken place around the country - with plenty more to come over the next few months.
Thom Yorke from Radiohead helped us to launch the campaign, and has since played a special gig for us as part of The Big Ask Live.
Over a hundred Friends of the Earth local groups have been asking people to take action in their local towns. As a result loads of individuals have contacted us to ask to help spread the word.

Next steps
We would like to see the Government introduce a Climate Change Bill in the next parliamentary session.
But to do that we need to build on our huge success so far - and spread the word to even more people. And for that we need you help!
