Hull Friends of the Earth celebrate their 40th year
7 July 2011

Friends of the Earth was founded in 1971 and Hull Friends of the Earth, along with a handful of other local groups, started the same year.

They're one of the longest continuously running groups, with a rich history of creative and effective campaigning - and so they thought it was time for a party.

When and where

The party will be held on Saturday 16 July from 7.30pm, at The Adelphi, De Grey St, Hull, HU5 2RU

All welcome

Admission is free, and the group extends a warm open invite to anyone interested in attending the event:

Everyone's welcome to attend; old friends, young friends, future friends (especially future friends!), friends of friends; friends from our Green Fairs, friends from our Networking event, even friends from the Rainbow Festivals if your memory goes back that far. If you're a musician and would like to sing or play let us know too.

The group hope to have a display of photos and press cuttings from past activities, so if you have any mementos of Friends of the Earth in action in the area please bring them along.

There'll be time early in the evening for people to talk, catch up with old friends and find out what the group are doing now. There'll be nibbles and a raffle.

How to get there

From the railway/bus interchange get a No 15 bus and get off at the first stop on Newland Avenue; or get one of the many buses which go down Beverley Road and get off just after the railway bridge.

If you can't make it on the night, the group would still love to hear from you.
