DECC Ministers being lobbied on climate change19 May 2011
All three ministers from the Department for Energy and Climate Change will be lobbied on the same day later this month.
Climate Change minister Greg Barker and Energy Minister Charles Hendry will be speaking at public meetings in Bexhill and Uckfield.
And Energy Secretary Chris Huhne will be lobbied by constituents in Eastleigh on 20 May as well.
The lobbies and public meetings are part of a series of meetings with MPs across the country as part of the Big Climate Reconnection organised by Stop Climate Chaos.
With the Energy Bill being debated in Parliament at the moment, this is a key time to ensure the UK delivers on its targets in the Climate Change Act.
A strong, green Energy Bill would benefit everyone. A switch to renewable energy and well-insulated homes would mean:
- Thousands of new jobs
- Warmer homes
- Cheaper energy bills
We also want see a new law to ensure that all local councils act to cut emissions.
Challenge your MP
All over the country, MPs are being challenged to tackle climate change as part of the Big Climate Reconnection.
