Localism Bill update2 June 2011
Friends of the Earth has been working with supportive MPs and coalitions to push forward our amendments to the Localism Bill.
We've been campaigning to get your voice heard in Neighbourhood Plans and for sustainable development to be set put on the face of the bill.
Last month we faced a setback. Greg Clark MP put forward a last minute amendment which gave business a stronger role in Neighbourhood Forums.
This would put businesses before people and lead to unsustainable development that would damage our communities, environment and future.
The next stage
The Bill has now reached the committee stage in the House of Lords and will be debated until early July.
Friends of the Earth are continuing to press for amendments to improve the Bill and make it fairer and more sustainable.
We need your help in persuading your MP to push for our amendments.
Please write to your MP and take a look at our new action guide.
