Help Merthyr oppose the incinerator17 February 2011
This summer the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) will decide whether or not to approve the Merthyr Incinerator application.
Friends of the Earth is monitoring the new planning process whilst helping the community of Merthyr to oppose the proposed Covanta Incinerator.
Unfair process
The new process aims to "fast track" planning applications, showing little regard for communities and their rights.
The planning consultation for the incinerator was carried out by the developer - Covanta.
In doing so they denied local people vital information about the impacts of the incinerator on their area.
