Our Summer of Action in the Midlands
3 August 2010

In the East and West Midlands we've put together a team for the summer. Local group members and new volunteers are campaigning at events across the regions.

Here are two stories from our Summer Action Team over the past month.

Clare Raybould at the Evesham River Festival, Worcestershire

3 men, 1 woman and 1 dog went to Evesham to raise awareness of our Get Serious About CO2 campaign in Worcestershire.

Our stand was right by the riverside, where people of all ages milled happily past. Locals were keen to chat and offer their support.

Apple, our dog, soon became our secret weapon, bringing in the adoring public with a quick wag of her tail!

By the end of a sunny day, full of smiles and activity, over 100 Get Serious cards had been signed, 75 of which were from Evesham.

Several new community and council contacts had also been made. Mission accomplished!

Hannah Winter at the Splendour Festival, Nottingham

A team of 5 (4 humans and 1 human-cow hybrid) from the Nottingham group and beyond spent the day promoting our Fix the Food Chain campaign.

With our stand overlooking the crowds below, we could chat to guests in a more audible setting. Meanwhile, the cow ventured out among festival-goers to inspire them to join the MOOvement.

By the end of the day over 150 postcards had been signed.

The cow had a great day out. The highlights of her day included becoming the unofficial mascot of a milkshake stand and inspiring the staff members of a burger stand to join the MOOvement!
