Move the planet beyond fossil fuels
15 September 2011

People around the planet will get together on 24 September for a clean world - a world beyond fossil fuels.

From London to Tokyo, Berlin to Johannesbourg, old and young will come together for this global day of action.

The world should consign fossil fuels to history.

But governments are hugely influenced by the oil and coal industry and together they're blocking the possibility of creating a clean future.

On 24 September people around the world will demand urgent action from governments.

Solutions

Friends of the Earth has a long history of advocating clean and renewable alternatives to fossil fuels. We're one of the many partner organsiations that make up Moving Planet.

As our recent briefing shows, the transition to 100% renewable energy use must begin now on a global scale.

20% of the world's population have no access to electricity

With the right investment and policies, rural and urban communities across the world could generate their own clean and affordable energy.

Moving from fossil fuels to clean energy sources is essential to tackle climate change and poverty.

There are also viable and achievable alternatives for the UK - making coal and oil history.
