We have a new local group
9 September 2013

Tonbridge and Malling Friends of the Earth is our newest local group to join the network.

Howard Porter, the new group's coordinator, expects their first campaigning priority to be against the local issue of fracking. They've already met with nearby local groups in Bromley and Sevenoaks to start planning.

As Howard says,

Drilling companies have undertaken some seismic surveys in the Sevenoaks and Darenth Valley area but there have been no new wells drilled since the Cowden well was abandoned last year. We don't expect this situation to last however, so we need to prepare the ground now for when the planning applications go in.

They'll also be keeping the pressure up on The Bee Cause campaign which they started working on even before forming a Friends of the Earth group.

The group are already getting creative at stalls to attract new members - and all are welcome to get involved.

It's great to add another group to what's already the country's biggest grassroots environmental network.
