The global environmental movement comes to Nottingham1 September 2011
All are invited to join us in Nottingham on 9 September, at 8.30pm, for a free speaker event, 'The Global Struggle For Environmental Justice.'
The event marks the opening night of our annual Conference at East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham University
Global heroes to speak
Nnimmo Bassey - Chair of Friends of the Earth International - one of Time magazine's Heroes of the Environment in 2009. He'll speak on the global movement for environmental justice and his own experiences struggling against oil companies in Nigeria.
Jagoda Munic - a prolific campaigner from Friends of the Earth Croatia, will provide an overview on the situation in Europe. She'll explain how thousands of people in Croatia are banding together to protect their local green spaces.
The session will be chaired by the New Internationalist co-editor, Vanessa Baird.
