Power Up weekend 16-18th May 2008
17 May 2008

Rights and Justice residential weekend
16th - 18th May 2008, Birmingham

Learn how to use your legal and planning rights for your community

What is Power Up?

Power Up is an interactive weekend of training and workshops to show how you can use legal and planning knowledge to make your local campaign more effective.

Who is Power Up for?

If you are involved with a local community campaign and want to know how to use your rights to improve where you live, Power Up will help you do this.

You don't have to be a member of Friends of the Earth, and you don't have to be an expert - just want to make a difference.

What happens at Power Up?

You will get an introduction to the legal and planning systems, and opportunities to explore some topics in more depth.

This includes workshops on:

  • The land-use planning system
  • Freedom of Information laws
  • Judicial Review processes

There will be a walk around Birmingham city to explore local planning issues.

Use Power Up to campaign

The programme is designed to help you make your campaign more effective. You will:

  • Work through practical strategies and tactics with legal and planning experts
  • Gain advice in one-on-one surgeries
  • Meet and share knowledge with other community groups
