Will Queen's Speech lead us to cheaper, cleaner energy?10 May 2012
A diamond opportunity for Government action to fix our broken power system.
As expected, the Queen's Speech included the announcement of an energy reform Bill.
It's a Bill that could provide much-needed change to the delivery of UK electricity.
85% say go clean
Cash-strapped households and businesses are struggling with sky-high fuel bills - caused by our reliance on expensive, dirty fossil fuels.
The Prime Minister must resist pressure from fringe elements to lurch to the right on energy - 85% of the public back investment in British energy from the sun, sea and wind.

A full-page Friends of the Earth ad in today's Daily Telegraph shows how important this issue is to 52 million Brits.
We're calling on the Government's new Bill to:
- Ensure the UK is not locked into decades more imported gas.
- Limit pollution from power stations in line with 2030 targets.
- Reverse the domination of the Big Six power companies.
- Provide straightforward support for renewable energy companies.
- Ensure businesses, schools and hospitals can plug into clean power.
Feel the power
Friends of the Earth believes the Prime Minister must honour his pledge to lead "the greenest Government ever". And seize this once-in-a-generation opportunity to change our power market for the better.
Tell the Government that it's time to switch from dirty fossil fuels to clean British energy. Please send our postcard - thank you.
