Who talks the most rubbish about recycling?20 April 2011
As we near the end of the waste review, due for publication in May, lots of stories on waste and rubbish collections are appearing in the media.
For example, the Department for the Environment plans to ban councils from fining people for all but the most serious of waste crimes.
And councils have been ignoring Eric Pickles, the Secretary for Local Government, who has spent the last year bullying them into collecting rubbish every week.

It seems the Government - and Eric Pickles in particular - have got it badly wrong on waste. They're at war with councils when they should be supporting them.
In response to the Coalition's record of talking trash while failing to set out a sensible plan for dealing with England's waste, we've been running the Talking Rubbish Awards.
On 19 April, we announced the results outside Parliament:
Now we need your help to stop other politicians talking rubbish, and instead support a goal to halve household black bag waste by 2020.
