Sevenoaks residents speak out
31 October 2011

Sevenoaks Friends of the Earth spent their summer running stalls and talking to the public about energy.

The group's work on Friends of the Earth's Big Energy Conversation yielded some interesting results, which they decided to share with the local paper.

The Sevenoaks Chronicle published the story under the headline '80% of residents concerned over high cost of energy'. Results showed that:

  • 90% of residents are already taking action to cut energy costs - lagging the loft, stopping draughts etc.
  • A quarter of respondents were not warm enough in their homes last winter
  • More than half were considering investing in energy saving systems E.g. solar panels

The results prompted a public meeting with independent experts to answer residents' questions on generating their own solar energy and accessing feed-in-tariffs.

If you're concerned about rising fuel prices and would like to see the feed-in-tariff scheme preserved, then sign our petition.
