Stephen Merchant is co-writer and co-director with Ricky Gervais of the multi award winning The Office and Extras.
He has been a consistent presence on the radio. While at Xfm London and did a world conquering podcast with Ricky Gervais - the most downloaded in history.
He continues to broadcast on BBC Radio.
Merchant made a cameo appearance as Oggy (also known as "The Oggmonster", although his real name is Nathan), a friend of Gareth Keenan, in the second series of The Office in 2002.
His father, Ron Merchant, also appears as a character named "Gordon", an office handyman who becomes transfixed by the documentary cameras whenever he walks into shot.
In Extras, Merchant stars as Darren Lamb, the incompetent agent of Andy Millman (Gervais), a role for which he won a British Comedy Award in 2006 for Best TV Actor.
Much in demand as a writer, broadcaster, comedian and actor, Merchant will be appearing alongside Dwayne Johnson in the 2010 film Tooth Fairy.
He is also currently working on a film with Gervais called "Cemetery Junction", set in working-class England in the 1970's.
Stephen will be performing at LIVEstock 2009 - a unique evening of comedy and music in support of Friends of the Earth's Food Chain Campaign.
