Getting together to Push Europe
8 September 2011

Activists from Young Friends of the Earth recently got together for a summer action camp in Yorkshire.

Young people aged 18-30 joined forces from around the country to plan activities for the year ahead and support the Push Europe campaign.

They're calling on the United Kingdom and the European Union to take immediate action to tackle climate change.

The camp on Ovenden Moor in Yorkshire centred on the Push Europe campaign which calls for the EU to strengthen its carbon emission reduction target.

This is urgently required in order to prevent catastrophic climate change - such targets would also create plenty of opportunities for young people.

Generating interest

The group promoted the camp to local media - giving interviews to BBC Leeds and the Halifax Courier.

Building capacity

Alongside campaign activities there was also plenty of time to talk about the Young Friends of the Earth network - leading to some great ideas for the future.

Many of the group will get together at Friends of the Earth's annual conference to build on the plans already made.
