To celebrate Friends of the Earth's 40th anniversary, I've been talking to some of the supporters who've made it all possible. Marco Cadena (right), is a volunteer bringing the buzz to Friends of the Earth's London groups.

"I have a new job title: campaign and network mobiliser - establishing a network of young activists in London.

"There are lots of local groups, but they're not really connected. So my job is to build an online presence, and plan more dynamic, less formal events to attract a younger crowd.

It's young people who need to make their voices heard the most.

"I also campaign at an international level, with Young Friends of the Earth Europe.

"I grew up in Hungary, and my dad's Mexican, but I came to London after graduating as it's a major hub for global campaigning."

View upcoming events in your region, or create your own event through your local group. Or why not volunteer with Friends of the Earth?

Next week: Caroline Eccles. To see all the supporters I've interviewed, visit our 40th anniversary gallery. Hannah Booth also writes Lives Less Ordinary.
