Supporter of the week: Helena Wright
To celebrate Friends of the Earth's 40th anniversary, I've been talking to some of the supporters who've made it all possible. Helena Wright (right), is an environmental researcher and activist.
"I've been part of the Young Friends of the Earth network for a few years - we set up the UK branch a year ago.
"I've been to a couple of climate change talks - in Poznan and Copenhagen.
We lobbied EU delegates, did media work and staged protests.
"But it's frustrating and slow - with lots of legal wrangling behind closed doors.
"I'm doing research at Imperial College with a view to doing a PhD.
"I also do green audits for small businesses - from pubs to jewellers to taxi firms - in south London. We're trying to support them to become greener, and save money, too.
"It's really varied and I enjoy it.
"We need to be concerned about the state of the planet."
Next week: Walt Patterson. To see all the supporters I've interviewed, visit our 40th anniversary gallery.
