Plug us in energy survey - the results so far...
5 September 2011

Thousands of our supporters have been telling us what they think about energy to help us launch our new campaign for a safe and affordable energy future.

And this is how the results are shaping up so far.

We asked you to tell us what you thought the two most important energy issues facing the UK are.

Some 6,600 people have responded so far.

Nearly 80% of you said you're most concerned about the impact of our energy system on climate change.

Here's the full breakdown of responses:

We also asked what actions you're interested in taking to help us win our campaigns. This is your top five:

1. Showing support through simple online actions.
2. Challenging the big energy companies about their prices and practices.
3. Sharing our actions with friends.
4. Spreading the word through Facebook and Twitter.
5. Changing their energy supplier.

It's great to see that so many people are interested in blogging and taking photos or making films as well.

Then we asked what annoys you most about energy in the UK. This is just a flavour of some of the responses:

  • Perpetual investment in fossil fuels rather than renewables.
  • Lack of political will to switch to less oil-dependent economy.
  • Fuel poverty.
  • Big companies putting profit before people and the planet.
  • Expensive to heat homes in winter.

I would like to see the UK trying to be a world leader in renewable energy.

The UK has far more capacity for renewable energy than Germany but, unlike Germany, makes little attempt to harness it sufficiently.
