Telford MP joins fight for stronger Energy Bill1 June 2011
Local MP David Wright has joined Telford and Wrekin council in supporting a stronger Energy Bill.
The meeting was organised by Telford and Wrekin Friends of the Earth - just one of a series of meetings throughout the country about the new Energy Bill.
A packed room heard from Glyn Thomas (Friends of the Earth), David Wright MP and Michael Barker (Head of Housing and Planning, Telford and Wrekin Council).
The audience heard why local council Telford and Wrekin support Friends of the Earth's petition to Chris Huhne calling for more action from local councils to cut emissions.
Local MP David Wright agreed to support our asks in the energy bill and to ask Luciana Berger MP, the Labour Party lead on the Energy Bill committee to support our asks too.
Questions followed about home insulation and the Government's Green Deal, tackling fuel poverty and plans for a wind farm locally.
The local council supports the introduction of local carbon budgets for every local council to help them cut emissions locally.
