Vivienne Westwood calls for climate 'revolution'17 September 2012
Vivienne Westwood has called for a serious change in attitudes to the environment by the 2016 Rio Olympics.
In a speech to Friends of the Earth's annual conference at the weekend, the fashion designer and activist called for a climate 'revolution'.
Our economic system, run for profit and waste, is the cause of climate change, she said.
Sorting out the planet, she argued, would bring in policies that would benefit economies too.
There is no division between the economy and environment.

She said the world needs to act immediately to:
- Establish an Arctic commons - with no one country owning the area.
- Save rainforests.
- Curb the actions of corporations.
Individuals can help by persuading friends and family to push for a better environment, she said.
Vivienne was appearing as a guest speaker at Friends of the Earth's annual conference in London.
Other speakers at the two-day event included Green Party MP Caroline Lucas and environmental lawyer Polly Higgins.
Friends of the Earth is campaigning to save bees and for more clean energy from wind sun and water.
