What do you think we should be working on?18 March 2013
Ted Burke of Lewisham Friends of the Earth explains why local groups should make their voice heard in the Motions process:
If you're a local group member and have ideas about Friends of the Earth's priorities - or how we should be campaigning - you have a unique opportunity.
Once a year you can put forward Motions which - if passed in a vote by local groups - go to the Board of Friends of the Earth to inform our future direction.
As a group member I believe more of us should be involved in proposing and debating Motions.
We have until 8 April to propose Motions, so it's time to get moving.
Our experience of local campaigning is as important to Friends of the Earth as staff expertise is to our local campaigns. I think we have a responsibility to take this chance to shape our shared direction.

We've always got to bear in mind that resources are finite - and difficult choices have to be made on allocating them. But the more of us who feed in to Friends of the Earth, the more we're able to participate in its future.
I've seen activists introduce all sorts of great ideas during the Motions process. Healthy and honest debate is part of what makes Friends of the Earth what it is.
It was a local group Motion that started Friends of the Earth campaigning against genetically modified foods. Other Motions have changed how we campaign and communicate.
Please consider with your group whether there's something you'd like to bring up this year. Submit Motions by 8 April - or join the discussions on other Motions at http://forum.foe.co.uk/campaignhubs/index.php/page,page2474.html.
