Winchester group reaches out11 August 2011
Winchester Friends of the Earth has been busy building alliances and helping spread the green message to local residents.
As part of a joint initiative with Winchester Action on Climate Change (WinACC), Winchester Friends of the Earth has hosted regular eco-workshops throughout the year.
The workshops focus on a range of themes to engage new audiences, build expertise among the group and local community and encourage greener lifestyle choices. Topics include:
- Home renovation, windows, draughts and insulation
- Renewable energy in the home
- The renewable heat incentive
- Water use
- Transport
The goal is for people to get practical information from experts and peers that they can take away and use themselves
Giles Gooding, Co-ordinator
Held bi-monthly, up to 40 people have attended each workshop, demonstrating a real appetite for practical advice.
Winchester Friends of the Earth will continue to run the eco-workshops until the end of the year. Find out details on the group's website.
