Transport12 May 2010
Northern Ireland's ten year transport strategy (PDF†) will not halt Northern Ireland's soaring traffic levels.
It panders to three common transport myths:
- everyone has a car;
- road building is good for the economy;
- new roads ease congestion.
It will mean:
- more traffic jams
- more air pollution
- more money wasted
Friends of the Earth believes more money should be spent on buses, trains and, walking and cycling facilities.
Our vision for the future of railways is entitled Out of the Shadows (PDF†)
Our briefing, Railways: ruin or revival? (PDF† 128K) is also available.
