Planning and the environment: meet the experts
10 September 2008
Community groups and environmental campaigners are being invited to attend a training seminar that will cover a wide range of topics related to environmental law and successful engagement with the planning system.
The event, hosted by the Environmental and Planning Law Association for Northern Ireland (EPLANI) [1], will take place at the headquarters of NICVA on Duncairn Gardens in Belfast on 25 September. It will include presentations from leading lawyers and planners, followed by a café style workshop session [2], when participants will be able to discuss the issues with insiders in the planning and legal worlds.Â
Event co-ordinator, Niall Bakewell, said:
"This is a unique opportunity to access, for free, expertise that would usually cost you. It is ideal for anyone who wants to learn more about how they can use the planning system and the courts to protect the environment and their democratic rights.
"We will be offering a wide range of workshops, catering to all levels of experience, from absolute beginners to seasoned campaigners. This is already proving a popular event and places are limited so please get your booking in as soon as possible"
The event is free to attend but delegates must book places in advance. You can book online or request a booking form from Niall Bakewell (tel 028 9089 7592, email [email protected]).

The Events are open to EPLANI members, and interested members of the public alike.
[2] These workshops involve delegates sitting at a round table with an expert, who will answer questions and dispense advice.
