Environment Minister attacks UK climate policy - reaction
2 March 2009
Commenting on Northern Ireland Environment Minister Sammy Wilson's attack on UK climate policy today, Friends of the Earth Northern Ireland campaigner Lisa Fagan said:
"It beggars belief that we have an Environment Minister who opposes action on climate change.
"But most of Northern Ireland's contribution to climate change comes from housing, energy and transport - areas that are thankfully outside Sammy Wilson's control. Urgent action is needed by other ministers to slash emissions from these sectors.
"However, Sammy Wilson is making Northern Ireland a laughing stock on the international stage - First Minister Peter Robinson must call time on his disastrous appointment."
