Friends of the Earth’s one-minute film competition 2008 has now closed and the winners have been awarded their prizes.
If your one-minute film is well-constructed, you can play with some pretty hefty ideas. In a lot of really short films there a big film trying to escape.

One-minute film awards
Three fantastic awards were on offer, helping budding filmmakers to get noticed by the public, movie moguls and critics alike.
- Overall Winner
Selected by our jury including Trainspotting producer Andrew Macdonald and David Sproxton of Aardman Animation.
This was awarded to David Pownall for his film Winberry Hill. He won a budget to make a a film to support one of Friends of the Earth’s campaigns.
- People's Choice
The public voted for their favourite entry to Friends of the Earth’s one-minute film competition.
They chose How to Boil a Frog by Jon Cooksey. Jon won a working lunch with Andrew MacDonald, Producer of Trainspotting.
- Special Commendation for filmmaker Under 21
This was awarded to primary school children from four schools in Oxfordshire for A Day in the Spinney.
The children have won a film editing software package and the opportunity to meet Franny Armstrong, Director of McLibel and the recently launched The Age of Stupid.
