COMPETITION 2008

Which bit of the Earth are
you a Friend of?

In our 2008 competition we asked people to weave their passion for their bit of the Earth into a film. We received a huge pile of cracking entries - from action movies, to rom coms to documentaries, all squeezing killer ideas into just 60 seconds of movie.

Any place can tell a story: a shoe box under the stairs that smells of summer; a tree on the village green with a gnarled smile; a skate park where you first mastered a kick flip; waves crashing against the shore at your favourite part of the coast.

Your favourite spots aren't all leafy or wild – some are made of concrete but the people there inspire you.

The films were judged by a high profile panel including Trainspotting Producer Andrew MacDonald and David Sproxton of Aardman Animation and Friends of the Earth Director Andy Atkins.

Winberry Hill was the 2008 Overall Winner

How to boil a frog - People's Choice A Day in the Spinney was the Under 21 Winner
