What type of work might I be doing?

Picture of volunteer in media unit"Part of my job is talking to environmental journalists and making sure that they receive information needed for their stories. Other tasks include press cuttings, media surveys and distributing press releases. One of the best things is seeing a story develop from a phone enquiry to the news item you will be cutting one or two days hence."

Office Volunteer

Volunteers at Friends of the Earth carry out a variety of administrative support work - from helping with mailouts and press cuttings to assisting with research and information gathering. Wherever possible we aim to identify specific roles for volunteers, which will provide an opportunity for the development and acquisition of new skills.

"I have been helping to identify and research individual companies to be targeted in the toxics advice campaign to be launched later on this year. I am also writing a report on the hot potato that is ICI and their history of blunders."
