The
UK's first Organic Beer Festival is to be held from 23rd to 25th June at the
Anchor Public House, Rea Street, Digbeth (1) . To coincide with Friends
of the Earth's Real Food week(2) an organic barbie will be provided by Birmingham
FOE and organic nibbles by Digbeth based The Warehouse café
(3) from 6pm to 9pm on Friday 23rd June. Beers include:

Gerry Keane of The Anchor said:
“In this, the first organic beer festival in the UK, we have been
amazed by the interest not only from the punters but the brewers themselves.
We have 12 brews from all over the country and this could be the start
of an annual event.”
Nick Whittingham of Birmingham Friends of the Earth said
“Real Food week is an opportunity to promote food people want
- not food multinational companies want us to eat. This is a great way
of showing that organic produce is mainstream and growing from strength
to strength. “

from The Warehouse cafe said:
“Organic food is the food of the
future and we are aiming to be 100% organic.”

is Birmingham's premier Real Ale pub and has been the Birminghamg Campaign for
Real Ale(CAMRA) pub of the year a twice in 1997 and 1999.
(2) REAL FOOD week
runs from 17th to 25th June and is organised by Friends of the Earth to promote
