OVER-PACKAGED FRUIT IS BANANAS SAYS FOE

23 May 2001

Friends of the Earth today hit out at snack company Fruit on the Move for marketing grossly over-packaged fruit. The company sells apples, bananas and oranges individually sealed in plastic containers.

Sarah Oppenheimer, recycling campaigner at Friends of the Earth, said:

“This is an outrageous waste of resources. Fruit comes with its own biodegradeable packaging. Not only do these products create more rubbish, they're also more expensive. These plastic containers will be coming soon to a landfill site near you”
