When was Friends of the Earth founded?8 June 2011
The first Friends of the Earth group was founded in San Francisco in the US in 1969.
Friends of the Earth England, Wales and Northern Ireland was established in September 1971. We're celebrating our 40th anniversary in 2011.
Friends of the Earth International was formed in 1971 by four organisations from France, Sweden, England and the US. It's now a federation of 76 groups from around the world.
