I write to my MP a lot. Can I ask them to sign an EDM as well?22 January 2008
Yes. MPs represent their constituents, which means they are answerable to you.
Most MPs love the opportunity to appear wonderful and say they regularly fulfil their constituents' wishes.
Even if your MP is unsupportive and evasive - take it as encouragement to keep on writing and asking for their specific view point.
No matter how your MP responds, it does not affect your right to know their position on an issue.
You can find our campaign actions, including EDMs to sign, here.
Trying to get a response from your MP is lobbying, not pestering.
